ARAKU VALLEY......


Longitude and Latitude:   18.20N   82.52E

Located on the eastern ghats,close to the orissa state border, lies the a place with peasant weather, hills, with its rich landscape Araku valley.This place  is blessed with enchanting beauty of the hills and greenery, interspersed with streams and rivulets.The place always has a cold weather as the place is at an altitude of 900 meters.


The journey to this Araku valley on the ghat road with thick forests on either sides is very exciting and a life time experience.This place is connected through rail route to major cities like visakhapatnam.The rail route is very special as it passes through beautiful landscapes
and green hills, and nearly 41 tunnels and many bridges.Traveling on train gives you a memorable experience.
The Ananthagiri hills on the way to Araku Valley are famous for coffee plantations.Araku valley has a rich history of coffee production by the local tribal people.The tribals have a rich tradition followed by a long time.The tribal dance is a very famous and old activity of the tribal's life.All the women get together on special ocassions and festivals to share their happiness and enjoy.


The Borra Caves, one of the largest in the country, at an elevation of about 705 m , exhibit a  variety of impressive speleothems ranging from very small to big and irregularly shaped stalactites and stalagmites. The Caves are basically Karstic limestone structures extending
to a depth of 80 m ,considered the deepest cave in India.

Katiki waterfalls is another beautiful place,about 50 ft high. Katiki Waterfalls originate from the Gosthani River and contains greenery and clear water in its vicinity.Considered as the most beautiful waterfalls of Araku Valley, the surroundings of this water fall is very popular for trekking activities. At the foot of the waterfall there is a pool formation.
